Frequently
Asked
Questions...
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule by calling or texting me at (913) 914-8306 or by emailing me at robin@riseabovecounselor.com
Do you offer online / telehealth sessions?
Yes, however, you must be physically present in the state of Kansas during our online sessions.
Do you work with couples?
Yes, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) the Gold-Standard in couples therapy.
What are your hours of availability?
I am available Tuesday-Thursday, with my earliest session time at 8:00 a.m. Evening sessions are available. You are welcome to text or email me in between sessions. However, if it's an emergency, please call 911 or 988 for suicide or crisis situations.
What is your fee per session?
One hour (50+ minutes) is $125. If you're interested, click to Get Started today!
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I do accept Medicaid (Tricare/KanCare, and Aetna Better Health).
I also accept private pay, meaning I am an out-of-network provider. If you have insurance plans that cover mental healthcare, you pay me first, and then I provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider so you can be reimbursed. In addition, I accept payment from Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
Why private pay? What are the advantages?
Private Pay is a great option for folks wanting an additional level of privacy and quality of care. Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis, a record of what is spoken about, and insurance dictates when/how/what treatment looks like. When you opt for private pay financial agreement, you and I can decide everything about treatment. This is a great option for people looking for discretion in their services.
What happens if I cancel a session?
Sometimes life happens…sickness in the family, your car breaks down, there is a crazy snowstorm, etc. I understand that you can’t always plan for unexpected surprises, even if you have a prior commitment. My policy requires a 24-hour notice on any cancellations or rescheduling. For those sessions that are cancelled or rescheduled after the 24-hour mark, they can be charged for the full fee amount. This is necessary due to the time commitment made to you, and held exclusively for you. Thank you for your understanding.
What happens if you (Robin) cancels my session?
If I need to reschedule during the 24-hour time frame of your appointment, I will see you as soon as possible or I am willing to offer a telehealth alternative.
